Good Morning all!  Its a beautiful day in Southeastern PA.  Let’s get out there and do something!  Today we are focusing on some man friendly activities.

The NADRC- Johnsonville Centrifuge and Science Museum.  Located at 780 Falcon Circle  Warminster, PA 18974.  The museum is free but donations are suggested, $7-9 per person.  Hours are 1-4pm first and third Sundays of the month.  The museum is closed on government holidays (ie Presidents’ Day).  They can also accommodate birthday parties and have tables and chairs for rental.  While Bucks County is rich in early American history, local citizens are just starting to learn that before taking to the heavens Glenn and the rest of the NASA astronauts from those early programs came to Bucks County to prepare for the rigors of space flight on the Johnsville Centrifuge, the largest and most powerful human centrifuge ever built. The original centrifuge gondola (capsule) used to train Glenn and other early astronauts is on public display at the Penn State Anechoic Chamber at 300 W. Bristol Road in Warminster, having returned from a Smithsonian storage facility where it was hidden from public view for over 45 years.  Plans are in the works and funds are currently being raised to begin preservation work on this important artifact.

Out Door Expo 2012-10a-5p Saturday March 3, 2012.  Free!  This event is geared toward people in the Bucks, Montco, and Lehigh counties that have an interest in a variety outdoor activities such as: fishing, hunting, kayaking, camping, RVing, hiking and climbing.   There will be exhibits, speakers and teachers, demonstrations, and recreational activities.  From expert level to the weekend participant, and from kids to adults this one is a crowd pleaser!

Activities include:  Dog sports, Planetarium shows, face painting, blacksmithing, campers, animal crafts, rock climbing, boot camp obstacle course, volleyball dome, laser tag, archery, log roll, vendors, food, and much more!

I have personally have been to this event in the past and it is OUTSTANDING!  Make this an event to see.  It gets better every year and is a great way to spend time with your family and get out there and get some exercise!  Big kids and little kids a like will love this event.  Send the men in your life and keep the girls at home.  Or, send your man with his friends or make it a father daughter event.  There will be food, fun and prizes.

Schuylkill River-Bike, blade, or walk along the greatest city in the world’s Schuylkill River on Kelly Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.  Take in the view from Boathouse Row or watch the early morning scullers.  The complete loop via the Falls Bridge is eight and a half miles.

Wissahickon Valley Park–  Peaceful and quiet and a great place to start or end your day.  The outdoorsy type will enjoy one of many hiking trails, and rugged paths offer secluded space and picturesque views.  300 Northwestern Ave.  215-247-0417

For a longer trip take the whole family to Eckley Miners Museum, 3 miles south of Freeland off Highland Rd and 940.  It is open Monday-Saturday 9a-5p and Sundays 12p-5p.  Walking tours only offered starting Memorial Weekend and going until weather permits.  Admisson pricing is $4-$6 p/p.  There is a gift shop, museum, and the grounds that are open all year round but the buildings and tour is only available after Memorial Day.  Check the site before going and know that on federal holidays the museum is closed.
